WhatsApp Business API Pricing in Bahrain (2026): Meta's Rates, BHD Examples and What You Really Pay

Bahrain is one of the cheapest Gulf numbers to message on WhatsApp. The catch is that the price depends on your customer's country code, not on where your business is, and in Bahrain many of your customers have Saudi numbers.

Short answer: Meta prices Bahrain (+973) under its "Rest of Middle East" rate card. A marketing message costs $0.0392 (about BHD 0.0147). Utility, authentication and service messages cost $0.0091 (about BHD 0.0034), and since 1 October 2026 the first 1,000 service messages per number each month are free. A Manama online store sending 6,000 marketing and 5,000 order-update messages a month pays Meta about BHD 116. Messages to Saudi (+966) numbers are billed at Saudi rates, which are about 47% higher for marketing. QuickWA starts at $5/month (about BHD 1.88) and adds 0% markup: Meta bills your own WhatsApp account directly.

Meta's rates for Bahraini numbers

WhatsApp Business Platform pricing is per delivered message. Each message is priced by its category (marketing, utility, authentication or service) and by the recipient's country code. Meta does not give Bahrain its own row on the rate card. It sits in a regional group that Meta's pricing page calls Rest of Middle East, together with Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen. Iraq, Kuwait and Oman left that group on 1 October 2026 and now have their own rates. Bahrain did not.

Service$0.0091 after 1,000 free per number per monthBHD 0.0034Free-form replies inside the 24-hour customer-service window

The USD figures are Meta's. The BHD figures are our conversion at the Central Bank of Bahrain's fixed peg of 0.376 dinars per US dollar, rounded to four decimals. Your Meta invoice will show the currency set on your WhatsApp Business Account. Messages that customers send you are free. VAT and any provider fees are separate.

The country code decides the price, not your CR

This matters more in Bahrain than almost anywhere else. Skift, using Information & eGovernment Authority data, reports that Saudi travellers made up about 86% of Bahrain's 2024 arrivals. Most of them drive over the King Fahd Causeway for the weekend. If your Seef restaurant, Juffair hotel or Muharraq tailoring shop messages those guests on their +966 numbers, Meta charges Saudi rates, not Bahraini ones:

Recipient's numberMarketingUtility / authentication / serviceDifference vs Bahrain (marketing)
Bahrain +973$0.0392$0.0091—
Saudi Arabia +966$0.0576$0.0107+47% (our arithmetic)
Kuwait +965$0.0792$0.044+102%
Qatar +974$0.0341$0.012−13%
Oman +968$0.0341$0.0247−13%

So a Bahraini business budgeting for a campaign should split its list by country code before it estimates the cost. A list that is 40% Saudi numbers costs noticeably more than a purely Bahraini one.

What changed on 1 October 2026

  • Service messages are no longer free without limit. Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month. Meta charges from the 1,001st, and unused free messages do not roll over.
  • Utility templates sent inside an open customer-service window are now charged. Since July 2025 they had been free. In Meta's status webhooks their pricing type changes from free_customer_service to regular.
  • No payment method means no service messages after the free tier. Meta stops delivering them until a card or credit line is on the account.
  • Bahrain stayed in the Rest of Middle East group while Kuwait, Oman and Iraq were split out. Kuwait's marketing rate is now roughly double Bahrain's.
  • What did not change: messages customers send you are free, and the free entry-point window opened by a Click-to-WhatsApp ad still keeps all categories free for its duration.

Meta also offers volume tiers on utility and authentication messages, so a business sending very large numbers of OTPs or order updates can unlock lower rates. The tiers reset every month.

Three Bahraini months, worked through

These examples use Meta's USD rates above. The BHD totals are converted at 0.376 and rounded to the nearest fils. "Billed" service messages are the ones above the free 1,000 per number.

Beauty salon or dental clinic in Riffa800 × $0.0392 = $31.362,500 reminders × $0.0091 = $22.751,800 (800 billed) × $0.0091 = $7.28$61.39 ≈ BHD 23.083

Real-estate brokerage in Seef and Juffair3,000 × $0.0392 = $117.601,500 × $0.0091 = $13.657,000 (6,000 billed) × $0.0091 = $54.60$185.85 ≈ BHD 69.880

What the numbers tell you

The salon spends more on reminders than you might expect, but each one costs about a third of a fils. Sending the reminder as a utility template rather than a marketing one is what keeps the month under BHD 25. The same 2,500 messages sent as marketing would cost $98 instead of $22.75.

The online store is the typical Instagram-to-WhatsApp seller. Marketing is three-quarters of its bill. If a third of its 6,000 campaign recipients were Saudi customers who order to Al Khobar or Dammam, those 2,000 messages would cost $115.20 at the Saudi rate instead of $78.40. That is $36.80 more a month for the same campaign.

The brokerage shows the new 2026 pattern. Most of its WhatsApp traffic is one-to-one conversation with leads from Property Finder and walk-ins, which is service messaging. Before October that cost nothing. Now everything past the first 1,000 replies a month is billed. It is still small money, about BHD 20.5 for 6,000 replies, but it is no longer zero.

One more example for fintechs and apps: 20,000 login OTPs a month to Bahraini numbers is 20,000 × $0.0091 = $182, about BHD 68.43, before any volume-tier discount.

What providers add on top

Meta's fees are the same whichever provider you use. What differs is what the provider adds. There are four common patterns:

  • A higher per-message rate. Some providers resell messages from their own rate card. Gallabox, for example, advertises a "discounted markup" on its Enterprise plan, which implies a margin on its other plans. On the online store's month, a 15% margin would add $46.20, roughly BHD 17.37.
  • A per-message platform fee. Twilio charges $0.005 for every WhatsApp message, inbound or outbound. The store's 15,000 outbound messages alone would add $75, more than Meta charges for its 5,000 utility messages.
  • A per-number hosting fee. SleekFlow lists a WhatsApp number hosting fee of $15 a month.
  • Seats. respond.io's Starter plan includes 5 users and charges $12 a month for each extra one. Gallabox's Basic plan stops at 3 users.

Several providers say Meta's fees reach you at cost. Go4whatsup's Bahrain page says it "passes Meta rates through at cost", and YCloud advertises "zero mark-up". Our Bahrain provider comparison covers the details, with each provider's own page linked.

Tip: ask any provider for the per-message price it charges for a Bahraini marketing message. If the answer is not $0.0392, the difference is their margin.

How QuickWA charges Bahraini businesses

  • Plans start at $5/month, about BHD 1.88. Gulf accounts are billed in USD, monthly, or yearly at 20% less than twelve monthly payments. Subscriptions renew until you cancel.
  • 0% markup on Meta's fees. You connect your own WhatsApp Business Account through Meta's embedded signup and add a payment method in Meta. Meta invoices you directly at its published rates. QuickWA has no message wallet, no credits and no top-ups.
  • No per-seat fees and $0 setup. Add your whole front desk or sales team to the shared inbox, including on the Android app.
  • Built for a mixed list. Segment contacts by country code before a broadcast so Saudi and Bahraini customers can be costed and scheduled separately. Templates can be written in Arabic (right-to-left) and English, plus other Meta-supported languages for your expatriate customers.

AI, automation, calling and integrations are included from Pro. Every plan, feature and message limit is shown after sign-up. See our Bahrain page for the local overview.

Six ways to cut a Bahraini WhatsApp bill

  1. Keep transactional messages transactional. An order or appointment update with no promotion in it qualifies as utility, at $0.0091 instead of $0.0392. Meta will recategorise a "utility" template that contains an offer as marketing.
  2. Split your list by country code. Cost Saudi, Kuwaiti and Bahraini recipients separately. You may decide to send a shorter campaign, or none, to the most expensive group.
  3. Use Click-to-WhatsApp ads for acquisition. Conversations that start from the ad open a free entry-point window, which suits causeway weekend visitors who find you on Instagram.
  4. Answer inside the 24-hour window. The first 1,000 service replies a month per number are free, and replies after that cost the service rate rather than a fresh template.
  5. Send seasonal campaigns to opted-in segments, not to everyone. National Day, Ramadan and Eid sends are where lists get blasted. Smaller, interested segments cost less and keep your quality rating high.
  6. Compare per-message rates as well as plan prices. At 6,000 marketing messages a month, a 15% margin costs about $423 a year (6,000 × $0.0392 × 0.15 × 12 = $423.36), roughly BHD 159.
